It also means that you know the precautions you should take. The following tips will inform you about the steps you should take to make yourself completely ready.

How Fit are You?

If you are not sure about your level of fitness, then it is best to wait until you feel confident that your body is ready. Before you even start surfing you should begin an exercise regimen, this will help to get your body in the best shape possible.

You should also learn how to swim. If you haven't gotten the basics down, you need to visit your local pool or a club and take lessons. While this may delay your launch into the world of surfing you will find that learning at least one of the many strokes in swimming will help you manage surfing better.

Save the Eating and Alcohol for Later

Surfing is rigorous activity that requires that all your senses are sharp. Try not to drink any alcohol right before you surf. If you do you may not have the fastest reflexes to react to the waves as quickly as possible. Not only will this waste your time it may be dangerous depending on how inebriated you are.

You should also try not to surf for at least an hour after eating. If you do you may end up with an upset stomach. You may even vomit because of nausea.

Protect Your Skin

When you surf waterproof sunblock should become your best friend. You are likely to be in the sun for several hours and without sun protection you may get a very unpleasant sunburn. You should also wear a wet suit to protect your body. If you do not like wearing a wet suit try to wear a long-sleeved rash vest instead. This will help to give your body protection from the sun.
